Over
40 years ago, J. Keith Hansen, Keith F. Barnett and Paul J. Maxwell
merged their practices to form the firm Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell.
The firm now has seven partners: Newell
K. Johnson, Robert K. Bowen, Douglas D. Hawkes, Ross L. Youngberg,
Preston M. Eichers, Mark V. Anderson and Paul O. Skeen. The founding partners have all
retired from ownership and the firm is now successfully in its second
generation. We believe this shows a sense of stability and reliability
to our present and prospective clients.
All CPA's at HB&M are members of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of
Certified Public Accountants (UACPA). The firm is registered with the
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell is a
member of the Center for Public Company Audit Firms, Private Companies Practice section,
Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, Governmental Audit Quality Center and the Tax Division of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Utah
Hospital Association, HealthCare Financial Management Association (HFMA),
Western States Pension Benefit Association and the Salt Lake Estate
Planning Council. Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell is licensed to practice in
Utah, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Maryland, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
Our practice is conducted from our office in Salt
Lake City, Utah, and is considered to be a general public accounting
practice. We have divided our firm into five departments:
Auditing/Assurance
Tax
Computer Services

Client Accounting
All firm growth has been of an internal nature and is expected to
continue as such in the future. We desire to retain our identity as a
regional CPA firm in Salt Lake City,
Utah and maintain a foundation of developing a personal relationship with our clients.
Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell welcomes
the opportunity to serve clients in all geographic locations.
Our firm
provides a full range of audit/assurance, accounting, tax and
consulting services, consistent with ethical and professional
standards and regulatory requirements in the United States and with
the limitations imposed by our Firm's membership in the AICPA Division
for CPA firms.
Hansen, Barnett
& Maxwell is very quality conscious, maintaining a high level of
quality control throughout the firm. As a member of both the Center for Public
Companies Audit Firms and the Private Companies Practice Section of the AICPA, our firm is subject to the
profession's program of self-regulation through peer review. Our
accounting and auditing/assurance practice has been subjected to a
Peer Review by other CPA Firms on eight occasions. These Peer Reviews
are conducted once every three years, with Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell
doing its own in-house inspections/review in the interim two years.
Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell has received an unqualified opinion (a
report with no qualifications) as a result of each of those eight Peer
Reviews. Our latest peer review was completed in December 2005. We
believe this helps to create an environment of quality and
professionalism to ensure you receive the best service possible.
Many of our
clients are serviced by our Client Accounting Department and
Consulting Services departments. We have been involved in numerous
systems design and installation of computerized accounting systems.
Additionally, we provide in-house client accounting services for many
of our clients, who have chosen not to maintain their own accounting
systems or need help on a monthly or quarterly basis to reconcile
their general ledger and make appropriate adjustments.
The following
graph will give you a better idea of the make up of the professional
services provided by our firm throughout the past fiscal year endings
