Nate completed a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in December 2002. He joined the firm in August of 2004 after completing a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah in May of 2004. "After less than two years of working at Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell I have been able to do things I never thought I would be able to in such a short time. During the limited time that I have worked at the firm, I have been able to travel to fun places, work with great people and develop my skills in the profession. Traveling has been an enjoyable part of the work. Among the places I have traveled are Brooklyn, NY, Tampa, FL, San Diego, CA and even Beijing, China! It has been a lot of fun meeting people from all around the United States who are working in the profession and even meeting accountants on the other side of the world! However, while it has been fun to travel to different places, that probably isn't the most important reason why I like working at the firm. Maybe a more important reason why I like working at Hansen, Barnett and Maxwell is because of the people that I work with. I spend a large portion of the day interacting with other accountants at all levels of the company - from interns who are still in school, all the way to senior partners who have more than 30 years of experience. Everyone at the firm has treated me with kindness and respect. Since communication is a major part of the profession, it is enjoyable to interact with people who are fun and interesting to be around. I have also liked being able to learn new things and do a variety of tasks. I have never felt that I am not being challenged to learn and improve my skills as a CPA. From studying for the CPA exam to understanding how to account for complex life insurance transactions, I have had lots of challenging situations where my skills have been tested. The opportunities to develop my abilities have been numerous. While I think that there are many good companies that offer lots of great opportunities in the accounting field, I am glad that I chose to work at Hansen, Barnett and Maxwell because it has been a great fit for me." |
