Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell seeks out qualified individuals through several methods. For
college graduates, we visit the following universities in the fall of each year: University of
Utah, Brigham Young University, Weber State University, and Utah State University. In the
fall, we do all on-campus interviews through the Career Centers at the universities. If we
find you to be qualified during our interview on campus, we will then invite you to visit our
office in Salt Lake City.
In addition to on-campus interviews during the fall, we accept resumes that are submitted
directly to our office during all other times of the year. If we have a need for someone with
your qualifications, we will ask you to visit our office for an interview.
During your office visit, you will speak with several employees and at least two principals.
Take advantage of your office visit to evaluate the firm’s personality and culture. The office
visit is your time to voice any questions or concerns you need answered in order to know if
Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell is the right place for you.
Shortly after your office visit, we will notify you if we find that you possess the attributes
necessary to succeed at Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell. The following are guidelines we use in the
hiring process:
· Our Firm seeks to employ individuals who possess high levels of intelligence, integrity,
honesty, motivation, and aptitude for the profession.
· Our Firm hires only college graduates with a
Masters of Professional Accountancy degree as permanent full-time members of our professional
audit and accounting and tax staff. We employ paraprofessionals to work in our client services
department.
· We seek to employ staff members with grade point averages of 3.3 or better. We also consider
such factors as personal achievements, work experience, and other interests that indicate the
likelihood of adequate professional development.
· We seek only graduates who meet the requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Utah.
· Approval of principals would be sought for possible hiring of relatives of personnel or clients,
rehiring former employees, or hiring clients' employees.
· The background of new employees is appropriately investigated to reasonably assure hiring
persons with acceptable qualifications, by obtaining application forms, resumes, and personal
references.
· Applicants for professional staff positions are
interviewed and approved by two principals.
