Promotion to Semi-Senior will normally take place between the employee's twelfth (12th) and twenty-fourth (24th) month of employment. In this advanced position, the staff person will be expected to assume greater responsibilities while continuing to develop knowledge and skills.

It is anticipated that the Semi-Senior will be able to perform increasingly complex audit functions with little or no direct supervision. The Semi-Senior will generally function as a member of an audit team or under the control of a more experienced staff member. The Semi-Senior may handle some smaller engagements on his/her own, but under some guidance. The Semi-Senior will begin to have direct contact with client personnel in performing the engagement, but this contact would not include giving advice, making recommendations, or interpreting statements or reports.

In the tax area, the Semi-Senior will handle more complex tax return preparation including the gathering of client information under a supervisor's guidance. Staff at this level will also undertake limited tax research activities with Tax Department guidance.

Within a maximum of twenty-four (24) months, the Semi-Senior should have shown increasing capability in auditing and taxation technology. Client relation skills should become evident along with confidence to handle field work independently. Continued progress in personal skills and technical knowledge is expected through participation in training programs and self-study. Semi-Senior personnel may become involved in community activities through participation in civic, religious or service groups. When satisfactory progress in these areas has been achieved, consideration will be given to promotion.
