Wesley completed a Masters of Professional Accounting at Weber State University in the spring of 2004 and joined the firm in the fall of 2004.

"I started work with Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell in the fall of 2004 and I quickly determined that it was the best decision I could have made for me, my family, and my career. I received and continue to receive quality and specialized training on everything from accounting standards and auditing techniques to technology and everything in between. The training I receive is specialized, specific and is something that I can put into practice the same day.

I’ve had first hand experience with a variety of clients. I work with SEC, privately held, not-for-profit, and governmental clients. I’ve had exposure to all auditing aspects with each of these types of clients and get to interact directly with the client’s personnel. The knowledge and experience that I have received in the short time I have been here has been phenomenal. I feel that this exposure has put me on a career path that will take me where I want. I also get to work directly with the partners of Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell. They have the expertise in the areas we work and I feel they encourage the highest standard of work. The partners also encourage me to become an expert in the areas that interest me personally. For these reasons, I am confident that our firm provides services of the highest quality and is dynamic enough to keep pace with changing world of accounting transactions and standards.

I have the unique opportunity to maintain my Russian language skills. We have a client with operations in a Russian speaking country and I get to travel to Kazakhstan. This opportunity to maintain and sharpen my Russian skills has given me the foundation of keeping that skill where otherwise I would have lost it completely. The firm has been very good at knowing my personal skills and providing me an opportunity for me to use those skills. This is true with all my skills.

The firm is experiencing great growth, which means that there are great opportunities for advancement. I am currently at a level that I thought would take me three to four years to obtain. I have regular evaluations for advancement, bonuses and feedback on personal goals. The partners and managers care about my personal success and goals.

The size of the firm promotes a great atmosphere of friendship. I have been able to work on a number of audit teams, and regular audit assignments have given me the chance to work with a lot of different people. As a firm we have several activities throughout the year for employees and our families. In addition to the regular activities, last year we played in a softball tournament and this year we are playing indoor soccer. I have made many good friends here, including staff and partners. The caliber of people and professionalism is second to none. The firm has a great work ethic without losing sight of employees or their families.

My decision to work for Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell has been the best decision for me, my family and my career."
